چکیده

Environmental niche models utilize associations between environmental variables and known species distributions to define abiotic conditions within which populations can be maintained. Projection of modelled niches into new regions and under scenarios of future climate change enables the geographical distribution of suitable conditions to be predicted. This approach has been widely applied, including in studies investigating the potential impacts of climate change Department of Herpetology and Center for Biodiversity and Conservation, American Museum of Natural History, New York, NY, USA, Laboratoire d’Ecologie Alpine UMR CNRS 5553 BP53, Grenoble Cedex 9, France, Biodiversity Research Group, Oxford University Centre for the Environment, Oxford, Biogeography and Conservation Laboratory, The Natural History Museum, London, UK, Instituto de Biologı́a, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Ciudad Universitaria, Mexico City, Mexico, Centre Tecnolòlogic Forestal de Catalunya, Pujada del Seminari s/n, Solsona, Catalunya, Spain, Environment Department, University of York, Heslington, York, UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre, Cambridge, UK, Unidade de Macroecologia e Conservação, Universidade de Évora, Estrada dos Leões, Évora, Portugal, Centre for the Study of Environmental Change and Sustainability, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK and Entomology Department, The Natural History Museum, London, UK

Prediction of potential habitat distribution of Artemisia sieberi Besser using data-driven methods in Poshtkouh rangelands of Yazd province

The present study aimed to model potential habitat distribution of A. sieberi, and its ecological requirements using generalized additive model (GAM) and classification and regression tree (CART) in in the Poshtkouh rangelands of Yazd province. For this purpose, pure habitats of the species was delineated and the species presence data was recorded by the systematic-randomize sampling method. Us...

 The Quantification of Uncertainties in Production Prediction Using Integrated Statistical and Neural Network Approaches: An Iranian Gas Field Case Study

Uncertainty in production prediction has been subject to numerous investigations. Geological and reservoir engineering data comprise a huge number of data entries to the simulation models. Thus, uncertainty of these data can largely affect the reliability of the simulation model. Due to these reasons, it is worthy to present the desired quantity with a probability distribution instead of a sing...

Uncertainty of Artificial Neural Networks for Daily Evaporation Prediction (Case Study: Rasht and Manjil Stations)

This research uses the multilayer perceptron (MLP) model to predict daily evaporation at two synoptic stations located in Rasht and Manjil, Guilan province, in north-west of Iran. Initially the most important combinations of climatic parameters for both of the stations were identified using the gamma test; and daily evaporation were modeled based on the obtained optimal combination. The results...

Consensus Forecasting of Species Distributions: The Effects of Niche Model Performance and Niche Properties

Ensemble forecasting is advocated as a way of reducing uncertainty in species distribution modeling (SDM). This is because it is expected to balance accuracy and robustness of SDM models. However, there are little available data regarding the spatial similarity of the combined distribution maps generated by different consensus approaches. Here, using eight niche-based models, nine split-sample ...

A Novel Type-2 Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System Classifier for Modelling Uncertainty in Prediction of Air Pollution Disaster (RESEARCH NOTE)

Type-2 fuzzy set theory is one of the most powerful tools for dealing with the uncertainty and imperfection in dynamic and complex environments. The applications of type-2 fuzzy sets and soft computing methods are rapidly emerging in the ecological fields such as air pollution and weather prediction. The air pollution problem is a major public health problem in many cities of the world. Predict...

Modeling the effect of climate change to the potential invasion range of Piper aduncum Linnaeus

The potential effect of invasive plant species on biodiversity is one of most important subject of inquiry at present. In many parts of the world, the alarming spread of these plants has been documented. Knowing that climate exerts a dominant control over the distribution of plant species, predictions can therefore be made to determine which areas the species would likely spread under a climate...
